It troubles me. Vegetables are really important to humans all over the planet, yet there are hardly any songs, poems, films, plays or operas about them. So here is my attempt to kick start a wave of creative recognition for the humble vegetable.
This song (sung by a carrot whose friend, Peter, is a potato) is a celebration of all vegetables, a love song to their nutritional fantasticness. Hurrah for vegetables!
Would you be kind enough to go off and create something artistic about the vegetable?

lyrics
I don’t mind being a carrot
I’d rather be an aubergine
A carrot’s life can be chaotic
But aubergines are always serene
I got a letter from Peter
He said he’s coming down for the week
Now Peter is a potato
And he always brings me yams and leeks
Lie lie la la la lie lie
Vegetable, vegetable!
Lie lie la la la lie lie
Vegetable, vegetable!
Lettuce, mushrooms and sweetcorn
Garlic, onions and chives
Radish, marrow and kale
Good food keeps you alive
Lie lie la la la lie lie...
And then there’s lots and lots of beans
Yes, there’s kidney, broad, runner, haricot
Lima, pinto, mung, azuki
And there’s black-eyed peas
Cauliflower and parsnip
Parsley, pepper and maize
All of those are important
Eat five helpings a day
Lie lie la la la lie lie...
And then there’s lots and lots of beans
Yes, there’s kidney, broad, runner, haricot
Lima, pinto, mung, azuki
And there’s black-eyed peas
Watercress, cauliflower
Chicory and shallot
The song is nearly over
And so I guess that’s your lot
Lie lie la la la lie lie...
And then there’s
Lentils, chickpeas, cabbage, brussel sprouts
Broccoli, pumpkin, cucumber, celery
Courgettes, coriander, parsley, radish
Spinach, swede, beetroot and asparagus
Once upon a time there was a crazy idea: to create, record and upload a musical track every day for a year. And the idea
floated round and round the planet, looking for a place to call home. After a long time of searching and wishing and watching, the idea chose to make a nest in the brain of a bushy fellow, coming to his aid and guiding him out of the doldrums, back to a magical pathway......more
