This song has no verse or chorus.

I found some very pretty sounds and ‘blocked’ them out, each block being a different chord, and arranged the chords in a pleasing way, nicking some of the chords to ‘Let It Be’ along the way. (Naughty boy, aren’t I?) I then wondered: ‘What sort of subject matter might disturb and undermine the delicate pretty sounds?’

Having got an idea that appealed, I recorded the lyric all in one take as a flow of consciousness, trying to think like the character and trying to understand and express his state of mind. I did a little editing and jiggled around with the best bits.

I’m quite pleased with the way the lyrics emerged so organically through improvising, unfolding the idea as they moved along.
