I stumbled across a synth sound that seemed to change and almost evolve depending on how hard you hit a note, how long you held a note, how many notes you held down at one time, and other stuff like that. I might be potty, but that’s how it seemed to me. After playing with it for ages, I came up with this one, ‘slow thaw city’.

This is a live performance (ooh!) and the sounds you hear were all made by me playing the one sound: notes, percussive sounds, rising bass – everything is part of the one sound. Whoever created this sound deserves a slice of carrot cake, that’s for sure.

As I listened back to this one I could see ice melting to reveal an abandoned city, a place where everyone who didn't flee has perished in the big freeze. The slow thaw begins.
