I had a simple riff and decided to try and make a huge anthemic song from it. The rhythm of the chords felt like a relentless plodding so that’s where the lyric started.
Thudding gated drum loops, multiple relentless distorted guitars, assorted banks of vocals, effects galore, and a breakdown bassline that recalls ‘Lovely Rita Meter Maid’, and off we go.
I like this one a lot, partly for the huge sound and partly for the idea expressed in the lyric.
Does it sometimes feel to you like you’re plod, plod, plodding along?
.
lyrics
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey...
Keep your nose to the grindstone
And keep your head in the clouds
Reality can be a mother
That’s why dreaming is allowed
Living on the promises
Of the liars and cheats
Oh look. there’s a politician
“Blah, blah, blah” and we go
“Bleat, bleat, bleat”
We’re just
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
And when it’s tight and when it’s tough
The people at the bottom
They get it triple-rough
‘Cos they don’t have a voice
So they don’t get no choice
They just
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
There’s enough to go around
Enough for every man
But those who’ve got the most want more
So they can buy a ticket to
The promised land
Don’t you get mad, don’t you feel ill?
When you think about how it goes?
Oh, I remember now, yeah
There is the grindstone
Where’s your nose?
Just
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Plod, plod, plodding along
Once upon a time there was a crazy idea: to create, record and upload a musical track every day for a year. And the idea
floated round and round the planet, looking for a place to call home. After a long time of searching and wishing and watching, the idea chose to make a nest in the brain of a bushy fellow, coming to his aid and guiding him out of the doldrums, back to a magical pathway......more
