This started with some piano chords and it felt like it might be headed towards ballad land, kind of Elton John and Billy Joel territory. Great songwriters the both of those chaps, but I wanted to go somewhere else. I added some ethnic loops as a sonic detour which gave it a quite different feel and things began to get mysterious....

I wanted to make the vocal about a small idea, to try and make the whole song very small and intimate, so I came up with the idea of a character who lays down in his garden and communicates with insects. Of course, what else?

Found a perfect vocal effect with octaves above and below, came up with a suitably odd ending, some backwards piano and processed loops appearing as the vocals fade away, and there we are.

I rather like this one for its sounds and oddness and lyrical idea. Spiders know everything.
