about

The idea here was to create a delicate soundscape around a simple tune.

We start off with mood noises and sounds like bird song and orchestras tuning up. A descending minor tune is met by a staccato bass moving up, strings appear, and a kind of celtic pipe sound appears to play over this soundscape. Through a series of breakdowns, build-ups and changes in the rhythms of the melodies, things become busier until the intro sounds return before the final breakdown and fade out.

This one owes a nod to Vangelis, Tomita, and the rhythms of some of Michael Nyman’s work.

I quite like this one, especially the weird ‘bird’ sounds and the moods that change when things get busier and when the pipe sounds play. As soon as that pipe sound appears, it takes me to a completely different place, some kind of secret village tucked away in a hidden part of a sunken valley.

Where did you go to?
