Coco’s dad, Clive - an ex-clown himself - wanted Coco to get a proper job at the stock exchange so he could proudly tell people what his son did for a living. (Clive has become a terrible snob since he stopped clowning.) So Clive set Coco up with an interview through one of his connections and it all went very badly indeed, which was exactly what Coco wanted...

Anyhow, even though I asked, Coco wouldn’t tell me exactly what he did to mess up the interview. He just smiled a gigantic beam of a smile - smiled for miles and miles - squirted me with his water-pistol flower, and went off, a-humming happily away to himself.

I’m hoping that perhaps he confided in you and you can share what he told you. Then we can all find out what happened. Then maybe I could do a song about it...

So, anyway: Coco persuaded me to make this piece of music to express his state of mind as he marched smartly back from the stock exchange, back to his beloved circus.

Luckily, I had two orphan tunes sitting around and available. Both seemed like they would make good, happy marching music, so I got the melodies down, alternated them, found some happy chords and sounds, and that was that. (The percussive noise is me, hitting a clacky piece of paper on my lap with a couple of pens. Very high tech; don't try this at home unless you speak to an adult first)

With its varied orchestration, tiny fadeout treat, and bouncy triumphant mood, both Coco and myself agree that this bushytune gets a thumbs up.
