I’ve encountered the notion of a ship of fools a few times over the years and always found it to be strangely attractive. This song has the main character setting up his very own ship of fools and having peculiar, exciting, magical adventures.

This song has a rather odd genesis: I took the melody of a very, very well-known Beatle song (you’ll never guess) played it into the computer, knocked out every second note, and tweaked the resulting notes until I got this tune. It was only when I came to sing the lyric that I appreciated how odd the tune had become, particularly the rhythm, and it was a right stinker to sing. I did my best and I hope that is good enough.

I like this one lots and lots for its quirky energy, mad drums, optimistically oddball lyrics and chorus melody.
